Zefiro. Contemporary Art Exhibition

From 1 to 12 June 2026 the Biblioteca Bruschi-Sartori in Sestri Ponente hosts Zefiro, a contemporary art exhibition bringing together works by Lorenzo Massobrio, Francesco Barchi and Claudio Gastaldo. The opening is scheduled for Monday 1 June at 4:00 pm; admission is free and no booking is required.

Resti a Ponente: the thread running through the exhibition

The exhibition’s subtitle — Resti a Ponente (“Remains in the West”) — immediately declares its subject: the landscape of Genoa’s western edge, its disused factories, the quarries, the docks, the industrial architecture now consigned to time. These are the places over which zefiro, the westerly wind, blows — here a metaphor for a memory that crosses, carries and transforms: ruins and warehouses are not portrayed as waste, but as landscapes to be read and preserved.

The show brings different languages into dialogue — paintings, charcoal drawings, woodcuts and fine art — to convey this layered imagery: the Multedo foundry, the stone mantles of Coronata, the concrete skeletons of the former industrial areas of the Medio Ponente. Three authorial visions meeting over the same territory, each working with its own technique and its own visual sensibility.

The artists

Lorenzo Massobrio, Francesco Barchi and Claudio Gastaldo are exhibiting — the latter also the originator of the exhibition and author of the graphics and photographs that accompany the project. Gastaldo’s photographic works — two of which we publish on these pages — closely document the western Genoa locations that inspired the show: the former industrial plants, the quarries, the spaces suspended between demolition and re-use that define the present-day face of Sestri, Multedo and Coronata.
