Christ of the Abyss Festival 2026

A fascinating spiritual experience in the splendid Bay of San Fruttuoso: solemn celebrations commemorating the Christ of the Abyss on its 72nd anniversary. On the night of August 29th, the village is lit exclusively by candlelight, while a procession reaches the beach and the priest blesses a wreath that is placed on the seabed with underwater chemical lights. The evening concludes with a Holy Mass for the repose of sailors, accompanied by the sound of bells. A unique opportunity to discover the history and spirituality of this magical place, with extraordinary opening of the Abbey and guided tours at sunset.
