Artists, Patrons and Collectors in Nineteenth-Century Genoa
A fascinating journey through Genoa's cultural landscape of the nineteenth century through over one hundred works, many previously unpublished and rediscovered from museum storage. The exhibition, curated by Leo Lecci and Francesca Serrati, tells how Genoa was a cosmopolitan cultural capital thanks to local artists, patrons who commissioned extraordinary works, and collectors who brought masterpieces from throughout Europe to the city. An exhibition that completely redesigns the GAM's itinerary and is ideally completed by visiting the Frugone Collections, where exceptional works such as Giacomo Grosso's Femme and masterpieces by Giovanni Boldini will dialogue with one another.
