A Joke, Despite Everything

A polyphonic monologue by and with Mercedes Martini that explores the resistance and memory of the actress's body. On a solitary night in the Sala Mercato, the protagonist finds herself alone after an evening of honor, surrounded by the darkness of the theater. Between voices, confessions and ghosts of the great tradition (Čechov, Shakespeare, Hamlet), the stage becomes a wide-open mind where the abysses of artistic dedication, abuse and female marginalization in the cultural system emerge. A fierce act of love for the theater and those who inhabit it without protection, which above all asks for participation.
